Any vacation earned as a Bargaining Unit employee will be paid out on the first pay period as a Corporate employee
You will be able to keep your original hire date with the company and accrue vacation as a Corporate employee based on your original hire date

If currently enrolled in the CBU 401K plan, you will not be able to roll the funds over into the Corporate Plan.

The Assistant Shipping Supervisor assists in coordinating efforts of the labor force of approximately ten employees to perform duties of shipping (shuttles), receiving, storage, and distribution. Departmental productivity and quality are key drivers of performance.

This position will require the employee to work overtime as needed. Overtime is scheduled based upon individual job responsibilities and the needs of the department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Issues job assignments to ensure orders are picked and loaded according to schedule
  • Evaluates and determines course of action on loading, receiving, and storage problems
  • Oversee day to day shuttling, deliveries, and departmental process according to procedures
  • Determine acceptance/rejection of goods received via inspection when required
  • Reviewing incoming deliveries paperwork for both accuracy and potential problems
  • Works with department supervisor in developing solutions
  • Complete required paperwork
  • Monitors department safety and procedures ensuring all employees are trained accordingly
  • Address performance and personnel issues alongside the department supervisor
  • Communicate with production departments as needed
  • Post weekly overtime lists for all shifts
  • Maintain files, records, and other miscellaneous paperwork
  • Record keeping of Dietary Supplements according to SQF requirements
  • Utilize WMS system to adjust inventory, conducting counts and adjusting inventory according to findings

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • 1-2 years of inventory/distribution experience within a fast-paced warehouse or distribution environment
  • Knowledge of the transportation industry and warehouse operations and how it affects the company
  • Strong leadership, planning, and problem solving skills
  • Experience in a lead role or supervisor preferred
  • Effective interpersonal skills and be able to handle confrontational situations professionally
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is required
  • Must have basic computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Excel and warehousing systems)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Thorough verbal & written communication skills.
  • Highly organized, methodical, disciplined, and detail-oriented.
  • Utilize leadership and team building skills for employee growth and retention.
  • Must lead by example, morally and ethically.
  • WMS and/or Manufacturing QAD experience a plus.
  • Forklift experience preferred.

Manufacturing environment

  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.
  • The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
  • This is a safety sensitive position as the worker is subject to hazards that include a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, exposure to high heat.
